Designing a tool for storing research
At ASOS, the Design team was sometimes given the opportunity to design something that no one in the business had asked for. It was a way to explore ideas, trends, play with new tools or just spend time putting together something that felt like it was needed.
During one of these design challenges, I designed a tool for storing all our research. I couldn’t count the number of times we were asked for research that supported or might be relevant to a new project. As a team we’d done hundreds of surveys and interviews and card sorts but they were all stored under our particular projects so unless you knew what to look for, there was no way to find it later on.
So I set about designing a dashboard for searching all our research, with tags, dates, names attached. I included a section of what was coming up next too so anyone could add a question or make sure they logged in to watch the live stream.
